Pure water hydraulic drive technologies have recently been promoted due to its less environmental and safety concerns.The introduction of pure water hydraulic drive into hydroelectric industry can make significant economic and social benefit.However,there is few studies about the practical applications of pure water hydraulic drive in the hydroelectric industry.Therefore,this review summarized the current technical status of pure water hydraulic drive technologies,and analyzed its feasibility to the hydroelectric industry.The results demonstrated that the pure water hydraulic drive is a promising technology for the hydroelectric industry,and the utilization of deoxygenated water can be the most economic and feasible method to tackle the challenges.
