Abstract:

The impulse grounding resistance of transmission lines tower has great influence on the lightning protection of transmission lines.Reducing the tower grounding resistance is an effective measure to reduce the lightning tripping rate.ATP-EMTP simulation and model tests are applied to study the lightning impulse characteristics of tower grounding device and an improved grounding device is designed.Comparison of the general devices,the simulation results show that the grounding device has better lightning protection impulse characteristics under the fixed covering area of grounding device.Thus,it can be used to improve the lightning protection of transmission line at the area with high soil resistivity.
